So Far, So Good

After purchasing this software, I was hit by a cold for a couple weeks. And, I figured that training a voice dictation program with a cold wasn't the best idea for optimal long-term efficiency! So, here was my initial use -- just a short blog post.

This is my first test of using DragonDictate for Mac. After setting up the hardware and loading the software last night, it is now Sunday morning and I’m speaking to my computer. It seems so weird not to try and touch the keyboard to do certain functions. I even opened Microsoft Word without a single click of the mouse.

The software that I’m using really is an amazing tool! After only 5 min. of speech training, I am able to sit here and speak to my computer and have it recognize virtually every word that I say. For those words or phrases that the computer does not recognize, I simply say “scratch that” and it deletes the sentence or phrase that I just spoke. It not only handles the actual dictation and typing, it is also able to move the cursor around the page, select certain words or phrases, and do functions within the various programs I am working in.

Matter fact, this new paragraph that I just created was done by voice.

And, the great news is, that this tool seems to work in various applications. So far, I have used in Microsoft Word, in Yahoo e-mail, and on Facebook – all very successfully. This could revolutionize the way that I can work and interact online, especially when it comes to speed.
