Dare Mighty Things
"Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs even though checkered by failure than to take rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much because they live in the grey twilight that knows neither victory nor defeat." -- Theodore Roosevelt
There is so much in a day where I can choose to risk or to not. To engage in the conversation after harsh words were uttered. To dare to state my desires. To hope for a future that is so alluring, yet not within grasp just yet. All of these are areas I am thinking about tonight because I engaged in the hope and desire that surrounds each of them within the past 12 hours.
When I dare and risk for things I desire and those desires are not met, it is so easy to decide that risking was not the right thing to do. Instead, I briefly consider, that I'd have been better off to have sat on the sidelines a bit longer and not jumped into the game only to suffer an injury.
But, tonight I remind myself that I'd rather feel and hope -- even if the emotions are difficult -- than to live in middle where little is risked or felt. And, I am proud to say that I dared mighty things today!

Good one, Greg. Thanks for writing, especially something as challenging and compelling as this. Keep on, brother.
